Tibet Tourist Visa

The Chinese embassy in Kathmandu does not issue visas to individual travellers, only to those booked on a tour and then only paper group visas (not a stamp in your passport). If you turn up with a Chinese visa in your passport, it will be cancelled.

The Visa Fees (as of July 2019) are as below:

  • All Nationalities except mentioned below ………US$   85 pp
  • US Nationals ………………………………………………..US$ 177 pp
  • Canadian Nationals ………………………………………US$ 135 pp
  • Romanian Nationals ……………………………………. US$ 100 pp
  • Brazilian Nationals ……………………………………….US$ 150 pp
  • Argentinian Nationals …………………………………..US$ 165 pp

Guests travelling to Tibet with us, via Kathmandu are required to email us a clear copy of their passport. Upon receiving your clear passport copy, we shall apply for the Tibet Travel Bureau permit, from Tibet, on your behalf. Our Tibet counterpart will email us the permit letter, prior to your travel date.

After your arrival in Nepal, we shall apply for the Tibet Visa, with your original passport & TTB letter.

Notes:

  • The visa fees are subject to changes by the Chinese Embassy. Kindly check with our travel specialists if there are any changes to the Tibet Visa Fees.
  • Allow at least three working days for processing. The embassy needs your actual passport, so you need to plan for four or five days in Kathmandu before your Tibet trip.
